Ascension, the 40th day following Easter, was the day the Lord told the disciples to wait until the Holy Spirit came so they could be empowerd. Pentecost Sunday, the 50th day following Easter, was the day the Holy Spirit empowered the disciples to spread the Gospel. Thus, is the considered the beginning of the Church and celebrated with Red, representing the tongues of fire of the Holy Spirit.
